How to Create A Summer Ready Bedroom – Boll and Branch

Summer is fast approaching and it always puts me in the mood to change up our bedding.  I love bringing in fresh bright whites and classic navy into our master bedroom.  In this post, I’m going to share how to create a summer ready bedroom.  Recently, I received a beautifully packaged box of luxurious linens from Boll and Branch, which gives me the opportunity to share how I get our bedroom ready for warmer temps!

Up until a year ago, I was apprehensive about incorporating white into our bedding, for fear it would not hold up.  I have always loved the look, so when we moved into our new home, I decided to give it try!  I fell in love with our bedroom all over again and wish I’d done it sooner!

As the seasons change, I tend to add bits of color and texture to flow with my mood and season.  When I think of summer, I think of sunshine and white bedding with pops of navy, faux greens and wood tones, it’s a beautiful overall look.

I’ll never tire of blue, it’s my favorite go-to color I use in our home… From home decor to wall colors, there are so many variations that work well together.  The wall color in our bedroom is called Silver Strand by Sherwin Williams.  Of course, white is always incorporated, being the main color throughout our home.  It’s a beautiful and classic combination and their white hemmed duvet cover pulls it all together perfectly.

So naturally, when choosing the linens, it was an obvious decision to order their navy banded sheets and cable knit throw to tie in with our navy floral window treatments.  The bed linens arrived in carefully packaged boxes with gray satin bows; wrapped in their signature tissue.  The sweetest part about Boll and Branch is their story; you can read more about here.

Banded Sheet Set – White/Navy from Boll and Branch

Their hemmed shams and pillow cases arrived so crisp with a subtle sheen.  They remind me of luxurious hotel sheets from a high end resort, but with an easy wash and wear feel.  Sleeping under these sheets is even better… They are so soft and cozy!

I love the details of this beautifully embroidered scalloped lumbar sham… A subtle detail that adds a bit of feminity and mimics the pattern in our curtains.

I hope you enjoyed this post on how to create a summer ready bedroom and ways you can layer and add color and texture to your bedroom.

I love Silver Strand and all the other colors on that SW paint strip. I also love that you have an iron bed like me; I’m always whining for a tufted upholstered headboard and chandelier because I want a glam bedroom. But you have made it a romantic rustic getaway which is designing “outside the box”, I love it! Could you share where the Love verse plaque came from? I’ve been looking for that size of art with scripture and it is perfect. Thanks! Love your blog!

Hi Rhonda! Thank you so much for your sweet words, they are appreciated more than you know! I’m so glad you love our bedroom! I too love a tufted headboard… Our daughter has one and I’m often tempted to switch headboards with her! ;) The Love is Patient sign is from Tara @betweenyouandmesigns on IG and Etsy. Hope that helps!

It’s so pretty! The bedding is lovely!
I too love Navy in the summer! My daughter got married last summer and her girls wore navy! Such a crisp contrast!
I have white bedding, but I hide it under an older white sheet since my dog will sneak in there with less than clean paws. He loves to sit on the bed and look out the window and bark at anything that happens by! Oh well!

Hi Paula… That sounds gorgeous! I love navy, such a classic color! We have a sweet fur babe that loves to snuggle on our white linens too. I use to be nervous, but now I just use bleach and a steamer and it’s helped! ;)

I know that you’re partnering with Bill and Branch, but it would be great to hear about other parts of the room besides the bedding. Is there a separate article for that?

Hi! My night stands are from a 15 year old set. I chalk painted them several years ago to break up all the dark wood. The bed is sourced on my Instagram account under my liketoknowit page. Thanks for your interest!

Hi Michelle – They were purchased at TJMaxx several years ago and are now discontinued. The maker is Tahari, hope that helps to locate them. I would try looking on eBay or Etsy. Good luck!

About Alicia

Alicia of Our Vintage Nest

My name is Alicia Armstrong; thank you for being here!
Ever since I can remember, I've been exposed to interior decorating. Watching my mom decorate and antique shop is a vivid childhood memory. Since starting this blog in 2016, my taste in decor has evolved to a more refined style. I've never leaned toward trendy, but more of a classic and timeless style. I enjoy shopping my home and changing things up to update a space. I love working on relatively simple projects and seeing a piece of furniture or room transform on a small budget. We purchased a new home four years ago and while there's nothing that needs to be renovated, I'm constantly finding something to enhance. I've painted several rooms, added shiplap, designed built-ins for a homework station and updated builder grade tile since moving here in 2016.
I've been married to my husband, Chris for 20 years. He works as an IT engineer for a small business. We have two children and reside in NW Arkansas. We are a Christian family who desires to live a life with Christ at the center. We have two animals, a Golden Retriever, Paisley and a blue point Ragdoll, Angel. They definitely complete our family and bring us a lot of joy!
I'm happy you've found Our Vintage Nest, where I share inspiration for all things home. I hope to inspire you to love your home, re-purpose what you have through simple DIY and learn some practical design tips along the way.
