My Honest Review of the Downeast Home Cloud Sofa

This post is sponsored by Downeast Home and my review of their Cloud Sofa.

All opinions are my own and my experience with the brand and its products.

Hi friends!  Hope you’re enjoying Summer so far!  Before I begin this post, I want to address those of you who have asked me about the new furniture in our living room.  Due to the current nature of things going on in our world, I wasn’t able to share until now.  Which makes my honest review of the Downeast Home Cloud Sofa a more thorough one!

We’ve been enjoying the Cloud Sofa and Loveseat for over three months now and we absolutely love it!  We’ve had several couches over the last 5-10 years and I can honestly say this one is our favorite!   There’s so many things I could say about why we rank it at the top!  I’ll start by saying the number one reason is by far the comfort!  The bench seat cushions are filled with supportive foam and a cozy feather-and-down blend.  We’ve never owned a feather down cushioned sofa before and I must say it’s been a game changer!

The bench seat style is one I’ve always noticed and admired.  It’s so nice not to worry about losing things between the cushions or sitting on the cracks of the cushions.  With the Cloud Sofa, you never have to worry about your couch creating cavities or wells in the seats.  The construction of the sofa is very thought out and holds its shape beautifully!  The back cushions and throw pillows are also made of a support foam and feather blend, making it easy to fluff and reshape your pillows.  There is a convenient clip on both ends that holds the bench seat in place.  The bench seat cushion is also fully reversible, which makes rotating the cushion easy.  The cushions are baffled and channeled so feathers stay consistent and there is an extra lining with the feather blend so that feathers don’t poke or shed from the cushion.

The Downeast Home Cloud Sofa is available in two colors, linen and gray.  It also comes in a loveseat and chair, bringing you the same comfort and style as the sofa.  Due to the size of our living room, we chose the sofa and loveseat combo and couldn’t be happier!

We chose the fabric color, linen because we love the light and airy look in our living room and as you may know, I’m a neutrals girl!  For your convenience, I’ve included the measurements of the Cloud Sofa:

Width:  90.5 inches

Height:  33 inches

Depth:  37 inches

Weight:  119 pounds

Another feature I love about the Cloud Sofa and Loveseat is the modern wood frame and legs.  It brings just the right amount of texture to this classic sofa.  The subtle curved side panels give it that feminine touch that I love!

Everyone I’ve talked to about the Downeast Home Cloud Sofa has been so pleased and after experiencing it for myself the last few months, I can see why!  If you are looking for affordable and comfortable seating for your home, I highly recommend looking into this one!

Please let me know what you think in the comments below and if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them!  I hope you found my honest review of the Downeast Home Cloud Sofa helpful!  I’ll end this post with some of my favorite views of our new living room furniture!

Blessings,

I’ve had this sofa in my cart for weeks. I’m just worried about having such a light colored couch in my living area. Any thoughts on the fabric. Does it wear well?

Hi Julie! We love it and you won’t regret it! The fabric is durable and comfortable; it’s also pretreated, which I love! It’s worn well in the last six months we have had it! We also don’t allow our dog on the furniture, so that helps!

Hey thank you so much for your review!! This is very helpful!!! I want to ask you two questions! Do they sink when you sit? Because I like when couches sink in. Also, is it big enough for an adult to lay down on the couch?

Hi Elisa… No, they don’t sink when you sit. They are built so you feel well supoorted when sitting. We love the bench seat cushion and down fill cushions. Yes, it’s big enough for an adult to lay on the couch. Hope that helps!

I have been debating these sofas for a while..! Something I worry about is the “sagging look” happening in the bench cushion, as well as the ease of cleaning/durability of the fabric. Have you had any spills or messes you have had to clean up? I love the light color but it makes me nervous 😂

Hi Janaye! That’s something I worry about too, but with the Cloud Sofa, they guarantee no sagging! The way the couch is constructed (mentioned in my blog post) prevents this from happening! We’ve had ours for almost 6 months now and it looks great! The fabric is pre-treated and I’ve only had minor spills, which have come out with ease! We also don’t allow our dog on the furniture, which really helps! We love the durability and comfort of the fabric too! Hope that helps!

Hi Alicia, I came across this post while couch shopping. I, too, live in NWA! (Prairie Grove). I’m looking at the grey version since I have a black lab, but I would like your input/opinion on the height of the seat back. Our TV is somewhat elevated like yours, and I’m wondering if this could end in a neck ache after watching tv…thanks for any input. And thanks for the post!

Hi Sonya! The Cloud Sofa definitely sits lower than most couches, which I love for seeing into the kitchen and vice versa. To answer your questions… We haven’t noticed or dealt with neck pain from watching tv, but we are also laying down most of the time. I’m also able to go with the linen color and keep it clean because we don’t allow our dog on the furniture. Hope that information helps and thanks for your interest!

Hi Alicia. We are considering purchasing this couch but curious about the seat height/depth. We have a taller family and are wondering what the seat height and depth are rather than the overall dimensions of the couch. Thanks for your help.

Hi Sean… Thanks for reaching out and my apologies for my delayed response. This is a low profile couch, so I’m not sure it’s the best for a taller family. We are 6 foot and 5’7″ and it works well for us. Hope that helps!

Hi Anita… We sit on out DownEast sofas every single day and they are holding up great after 1.5 years. Yes, they do pill, but I have a fabric shaver that removes the pilling and the couch looks like new again. We love the light natural linen and appreciate that they pre-treat the fabric. Hope that helps!

Do you know who actually manufactures DownEast Home’s furniture? I keep trying to find out if these items are actually sold elsewhere also. Do you have any idea?!

    Thanks!

Hi Alicia, love the couch but wondered how soft it is when you sit. I prefer a supportive feeling more than a sink-in feeling. But I love the look! Beautiful!

Hi Valentina… I have lower back problems and do not feel like this couch has a sink-in feel. The fabric is a soft linen that has gotten softer over time. We love the look and the bench seating is something we really appreciate! Hope that helps!

How are the cloud sofas holding up? It’s been about a year now, correct? I love the look but my husband is wanting leather, due to two kiddos, two dogs & a cat. Thank you so much foe your time & sharing your home

Hey Ashley! The cloud sofas are holding up great! Yes, we received them in April 2020. They do pill, but I use a fabric shaver to remove and they look like new! They come pre-treated, so they are easy to spot clean. We also don’t allow food or drink on our furniture and our golden retriever is not allowed on the couch. We love the bench seating and would highly recommend! Hope that helps!

The cloud sofa looks really cute but I ended up returning ours. The arms weren’t very sturdy, and overall, I didn’t think it felt comfortable or seemed well-made. More of a first sofa in my opinion. It has the right look and the price is amazing! We are going for another Pottery Barn outlet couch instead.

Hi Valerie… Thanks for your feedback! You’re the first to share this with me. We absolutely love our cloud sofas; they are an upgrade from what we had before. The low profile seating is our favorite with the bench seat and down fill cushions being a prerequisite for us! Ironically, I’ve heard negative things about PB sofas from friends who have purchased them. As long as you’re happy, then that’s all that matters! :)

Is the underside bench a solid piece of wood, or is it just a frame with slats? If my cat can get at the underside he will “gut” it from below. Which is what the naughty boy has done with my current sofa. I have to get something that either sits on a solid plank, or has legs no higher than 1.5 inches, so he can’t crawl under.

    Thanks for your help.

Hi Barbara… The wood underneath is not solid, just a frame around the base. Your cat would definitely have access to the underside and destroy the lining. Unfortunately, this is not the couch for you. :(

Do the couch and seat cushions come off for cleaning? We have a small 7lb dog who goes on couches. She doesn’t often have dirty feet but she does once in a while…

Hi Julie! I really love this sofa set, but I was wondering if the seat cushion and back cushion have a removable cover to it?
Also, if the feather on cushion poke through the seat from time to time?

Hi again! This is Alicia… :)
The bench seat and back cushions are removable. They are attached with to the frame of the couch with clips that help it stay in place. Feathers do not poke through because its covered in a thicker upholstery; then the linen fabric that you sit on. We love it; hope that helps! – Alicia
