Wall Colors at Our Vintage Nest

Hi friends!  I get questions multiple times a day regarding the main wall colors at Our Vintage Nest, so I thought it was time to share our paint selections… Thank you for your interest!  For those of you curious as to what brand and sheen I use, I love Sherwin Williams in a matte Duration finish.  I’ve painted every room in our home and have learned from trial and error that this one works best for application and overall look.  I love the low sheen of a matte finish and find it works great in all rooms, including bathrooms!  It’s perfect for high traffic areas and can easily be wiped clean from daily wear.  On the finishes scale, it’s sheen is between flat and eggshell.

Our master bedroom is a beautiful gray green called SW Comfort Gray.  I have used this color several times in this home and in previous homes.  It’s such a warm tone that makes any room cozy and inviting.

So, there you have it!  These are the main wall colors at Our Vintage Nest that get the most questions.  I stayed with similar neutral tones, so that there would be even transition flow.  I hope you find this helpful when choosing colors for your home.

Blessings,

I just started following you and realized that we have so many of the same colors in our house so I have a question! We have the SW comfort gray in our bedroom and bathroom and a very similar gray throughout most of the rest of the house. It’s not edge comb gray, but SW accessible beige (bc every gray looked lavendar but this beige actually appears gray). we have a ranch style house so all bedrooms are in the back.. My question is- since we have comfort gray in our bedroom, do you think sea salt would look okay across the hall in my daughters’ room? Is it different enough from comfort gray but also blend well with the overall color scheme?

Hi Lauren… Sorry for my delayed response. It’s been a crazy few weeks!
Ironically, I used both of those colors very close together. They are both warm tones (and from the same paint card), so they pair beautifully. Hope that helps!

Hello! Love your paint colors and am in the processing of picking drywall texture…can you tell me what yours is called? In some pictures it looks like there’s none and in others a faint texture. I love the look bc it’s very classic which is what I’m going for.

Hi Amy… We just used a classic orange peel texture, nothing special. This was something I didn’t have a strong opinion about… You’re right, the texture they used is very subtle. :)

Hi Rhonda… This is from our previous home, but if memory serves me correctly, the cabinet color is SW Antique White and the wall color is BM Edgecomb Gray. Hope that helps and my apologies for the late reply.

Hello, I was wondering if you updated your new wall color that was a safer choice than edgecomb grey. Always love your style. Getting close to painting my living room and thought about edgecomb. I’ve used edgecomb and revere pewter in another room but not overly excited about them. Thank you!

Hi! This blog post is from our previous home. You’ll find a more recent blog post of our new home paint colors, where I used a more fool proof gray. Hope that helps!

About Alicia

Alicia of Our Vintage Nest

My name is Alicia Armstrong; thank you for being here!
Ever since I can remember, I've been exposed to interior decorating. Watching my mom decorate and antique shop is a vivid childhood memory. Since starting this blog in 2016, my taste in decor has evolved to a more refined style. I've never leaned toward trendy, but more of a classic and timeless style. I enjoy shopping my home and changing things up to update a space. I love working on relatively simple projects and seeing a piece of furniture or room transform on a small budget. We purchased a new home four years ago and while there's nothing that needs to be renovated, I'm constantly finding something to enhance. I've painted several rooms, added shiplap, designed built-ins for a homework station and updated builder grade tile since moving here in 2016.
I've been married to my husband, Chris for 20 years. He works as an IT engineer for a small business. We have two children and reside in NW Arkansas. We are a Christian family who desires to live a life with Christ at the center. We have two animals, a Golden Retriever, Paisley and a blue point Ragdoll, Angel. They definitely complete our family and bring us a lot of joy!
I'm happy you've found Our Vintage Nest, where I share inspiration for all things home. I hope to inspire you to love your home, re-purpose what you have through simple DIY and learn some practical design tips along the way.
